Comment on The Blog Post I Hoped to Never Have to Write… by Claudia Abbott http://jerseyjennskitchen.com/blog-post-hoped-never-write/#comment-1031 Fri, 05 Oct 2018 23:26:46 +0000 http://jerseyjennskitchen.com/?p=1044#comment-1031 My daughter had synovial sarcoma diagnosed in March of 2006. At that time there was only one study done of this cancer of the foot. After 10 years there were no survivors. A Pediatric Oncologist happened to read the study and when my daughters case was brought up in a peer review: he asked to have her as his patient. She was 25 years old then. Seems like all of the patients in the study had 1 or 2 things done: Amputation, radiation, surgery, chemo. I don’t know what you had done besides Amputation. My daughter had surgery on her foot, they had to amputate the little toe as the cancer had spiraled around it. She had six months of brutal chemo – 5 days a week, 8 hours a day for 6 months. We had to drive one hour each way to the chemo site. She was so sick. Then by December 2006 she had 6 weeks of radiation. She is now 37. We can never thank Dr Smith enough for reading the study and wanting her for his patient. The study said people show no sign of the cancer until it comes back in the lungs and then there are no survivors.

You are young, with small children. Please have your Oncologist that ran with you find the study and read it! It was written by a Dr in NC a university that started with a “P”. Sorry, I don’t remember the details better. I am thankful every day that she is still alive and more beautiful than ever!

My best wishes for you and your family. Prayers also.

Comment on Real Life… The Wins and the Struggles by Pat http://jerseyjennskitchen.com/real-life/#comment-635 Tue, 17 Jul 2018 16:21:14 +0000 http://jerseyjennskitchen.com/?p=1196#comment-635 You are amazing! I am so excited for your progress and seeing more positives in the days to come. Just a thought ~ I had an accident April 5, a fall that resulted in a severe sprain of my right ankle. I couldn’t walk at all for 5 weeks but my “hopping” skills were top notch! ? I had to get to the bathroom and kitchen some way. Lol I am older and live alone & asking for help is very difficult. I am much better, still can’t stand for a long period and driving is extremely hard.
All this to say that I have a teensy bit of understanding about your experience. It’s really nothing in comparison but it is eye opening as far as taking our bodies for granted.
YOU are a super star!! I am sending you positive, healing energy, strength for your challenges and immense appreciation for sharing! I wish we were closer ~ I would come & get you for a girl’s outing, help around your house and babysit too! Please continue to share your thoughts with us ~ we’re all on Team Jenn!

Comment on Real Life… The Wins and the Struggles by Alana http://jerseyjennskitchen.com/real-life/#comment-629 Mon, 09 Jul 2018 02:59:14 +0000 http://jerseyjennskitchen.com/?p=1196#comment-629 Jenn– you continue to amaze me with your drive, determination and ability to make lemonade out of lemons. You are an inspiration to all of us who have been lucky enough to be blessed with your presence in our lives. You have taught all of us – – even those way older than you – – what it means to live life with grace, dignity and selflessness. Your willingness to share your life lessons make you an amazing role model – – especially to your beautiful children, who will grow up believing that whatever obstacles they encounter in their lifetime, they will meet then head on persevere.

With lots of love, admiration and respect,
Aunt Alana

As someone accustomed to a little avocado with breakfast, I admired the versatility and flavor that it gives. I didn’t looked like your but it was good.

Comment on The Blog Post I Hoped to Never Have to Write… by D http://jerseyjennskitchen.com/blog-post-hoped-never-write/#comment-379 Tue, 20 Mar 2018 11:23:00 +0000 http://jerseyjennskitchen.com/?p=1044#comment-379 This story aired on my local ABC affiliate station in Dallas. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, because in 2012 I discovered a pea sized tumor during a pedicure. The tumor in my lower leg was a high grade sarcoma. Our stories differ in that amputation was not required, but I have had significant surgeries and treatment. My advice is…it’s spring…go get a pedicure! God bless you and thank you for sharing. I thought I was the only one!

Comment on 14 DAYS by Tina Smith http://jerseyjennskitchen.com/14-days/#comment-336 Wed, 14 Mar 2018 15:40:04 +0000 http://jerseyjennskitchen.com/?p=1073#comment-336 I just came across your story and realize it is 2 days ago that you had your surgery. I know we do not know each other but reading how strong you have been has touched me and really puts life in perspective. We go through each day so caught up in our own problems that we don’t realize that others are dealing with so much more. You are an inspiration for all of us. I can’t imagine what you are going through but I hear in your words that you will be more than okay. Thank you for sharing your story.
